Presentation by Dominik Vukovic
Monash University, Clayton Campus
23 July 2008
In 2005 Dominik graduated from Monash University with a combined degree in Arts and Law and a major in politics. After University he travelled extensively throughout Sri Lanka and Southern Africa and during these travels filmed stories that focused on the political, economic and social aspects of life for young people living in those countries and the issues that impacted their development.
Dominik spoke about his experiences in Zimbabwe, while reporting on the 2008 March elections. He commented on the moments that defined this critical period in the country’s history and also evaluated the political, economic and cultural influences that will shape the nation’s future.
Visual footage he filmed whilst in Zimbabwe was also screened to provide a deeper insight into the current challenges facing the country and its people.
His earlier time in Zimbabwe culminated in the 2007 documentary "Bowling for Zimbabwe" which premiered at the inaugural Human Rights Arts and Film Festival in Melbourne last year and was also selected to screen at the New Zealand Human Rights Film Festival this year.
