David Ritter will take an insider’s look at the world of native title agreements between Aboriginal groups and developers that has emerged since 1994. He will challenge the popular and convenient myths that have emerged about native title agreement making over the past decade.
David has worked in native title law since its inception, including more than six years as Principal Legal Officer at the Yamatji Marlpa Land Council in Western Australia and a stint as Associate to the inaugural President of the National Native Title Tribunal, Justice Robert French.
He has researched widely in the areas of native title and other Indigenous legal issues. David’s The Native Title Market has just been published by UWA Press while a second book, Contesting Native Title, is to be published by Allen & Unwin in November. He is now working for Greenpeace in London.
