
The Castan Centre has awarded eleven 2012 Global Internships to Monash law students who have shown a strong and continuing interest in the study and practical application of human rights. These internships take place from November 2011 to February 2012 at the Human Rights Advocacy Centre, Accra; United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Mumbai; Human Rights First, New York City; International Commission of Jurists, Geneva; International Women's Rights Action Watch - Asia Pacific, Kuala Lumpur and Geneva; Centre for Constitutional Rights, New York City; Plan International, Haiti; International Criminal Law Services, The Hague (2 positions) and Oxfam Australia, South Africa (2 positions).
These eleven students are given the unique opportunity to experience and contribute to international human rights organisations first hand. To find out more about the organisations and the background of the Castan interns, please see the intern profiles below.

Tessa Daws who will intern with the United National Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Mumbai.
Giselle Diego and Jeremy Shelley, who intern at International Criminal Law Services, The Hague.
Elisabeth Howard who will intern at Plan International, Haiti.
Sandra Murray and Divya Roy, who will intern at Oxfam, South Africa.
Kylie Pearce who will intern at the Human Rights Advocacy Centre, Accra.
Manav Satija who will intern with the International Commission of Jurists, Geneva.
Melody Stanford who will intern with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Kuala Lumpur.
Amanda Thompson who will intern at International Women’s Rights Action Watch – Asia Pacific, Kuala Lumpur and Geneva.
The 2012 Castan Centre Global Interns are provided with financial assistance by Daniel and Danielle Besen, Sylvia & Michael Kantor, the Dara Foundation, the Nordia Foundation, the Finkel Foundation, the Monash Law Faculty's Student Mobility Fund, the Monash University Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) and MyriaD Consultants, which conducts the cross-cultural training.
