Fees, funding and financial assistance

Fees

Administration fee:

Prato - AUD$300.00
Malaysia - AUS$150.00

Monash students will be requested to pay this fee at the time of enrolment.

Partner University students will pay this fee when requested by their administration officer at their home university.

Tuition fees:

Monash University students will be charged either full-fee or CSP according to their verified funding status.  This applies to core and elective units.

Funding - Monash students only

Monash Abroad funding:

Most Monash students who participate in short term international study programs receive Monash Abroad travel grants from the University.  Many are also eligible for a range of other loans, scholarships and grants.  For further information please see the Monash Abroad website - Financial Information for Short Term Programs.

Monash Abroad will directly deposit the money into your bank account within a month of the program start date.

Please note the Sunway package (of free accommodation & airfare) is NOT available for the Law Malaysia program.

Law Mobility Equity Grants:

Law Mobility Equity Bursaries are available to eligible Monash students.

If you intend on applying for the Prato or Malaysia program please submit an Equity application now.  If you do not receive a place in the program or withdraw at a later date your Equity application will automatically be cancelled.

The Monash Law School gratefully acknowledges the generosity of Blake Dawson in supporting Equity Bursaries for students wishing to participate in the Prato Program.
This Scholarship has been created to provide financial assistance to Monash students who wish to undertake studies at Prato.  The award will be made to one or more students who apply for the Law Mobility Equity Bursary and will total $2,000 in any single year.

W.J. & G.M. Goldsack Scholarship (Prato Program only)

A Scholarship has been created to provide financial assistance to Monash students who wish to undertake the study of Trial Practice and Advocacy at Prato.

The award will be made to one or more students and will be dependent upon the amount available each year.

To be eligible for the scholarship students must:

  • Be a Monash University student;
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in advocacy (for example involvement/participation in mooting competitions, witness examination competitions or debating societies; involvement in public advocacy).
  • Have a sound academic record;
  • Demonstrate genuine financial need, outlining how the scholarship could meet shortfall for study in Prato;

To apply for the Scholarship, complete the application form and return it to the International Programs Officer, Student Services by Monday 27 February, 2012.

Financial assistance - Monash students only

University financial aid

The university will loan students up to $3000.00 through Financial Aid.  The loan must be paid back by the time you graduate and carries no interest for the first 12 months.

to see a Student Advisor about a loan.

OS-HELP loan

You may also wish to use OS-HELP introduced by the government, where you may be eligible for financial assistance in the form of a loan towards your Law overseas study program.

For OS-HELP Loan information and application form please refer to this website.  Please ensure you meet all the eligibility requirements including the conditions of the loan as outlined in the OS-HELP Brochure on this website before applying.

Centrelink letters

The program is considered a Monash University course and therefore full time students may continue to receive payments.  

Verification of enrolment letters for Centrelink purposes can be ordered by completing the Application for student letter or academic transcript form.  Submission details are outlined on the first page of the form.  Please note, although it says that this form is not for current students this is the correct form, please ensure you tick the box 'Prato/Malaysia (Law)' in Section D.
