Legal practice standards
Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service (MOLS) adheres to the following standards in the provision of legal advice and assistance:
- MOLS provides information and referrals to people where appropriate and on a needs basis.
- MOLS provides advice and casework that is:
- Within our area of competence
- Clear and up-to-date
- Adequate to establish all of the apparent, relevant legal options and time limitations
- Accompanied by any immediate, appropriate support, such as letter writing or referral to other service providers
- Offered in a way that avoids conflicts of interest.
- MOLS provides high quality and accessible community legal education to meet the needs of the local community.
- MOLS endeavours, within its resources, to undertake law reform and legal policy to meet the priority needs of the community.
- MOLS is actively committed to promoting access, equality and non-discrimination.
- MOLS ensures community involvement in the effective and efficient management of all aspects of community legal service delivery. It is accountable to Monash University, Victoria Legal Aid, the City of Monash and its community.
- Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service (MOLS) offers clients the opportunity to provide feedback and manages complaints in a prompt, fair and consistent manner.
